4.2km

March 2025

Living in Łódź for an extended time teaches you to see beyond the obvious. The city’s grand, weathered architecture holds stories in its cracks, while its quieter rhythms reveal themselves slowly - courtyards, signage, the way the light shifts down an alley. Unlike other Polish or European cities, Łódź carries a strange kind of youth - restless, half-renovated, full of energy, much of it drawn from its students. Many of the photographs come from Piotrkowska Street and its surroundings: a 4.2 km spine that holds much of the city’s tension and movement. These images don’t aim to document in a traditional sense. They pause on specific subjects, gestures, fragments - bringing them close enough that they leave a mark.
